Matrix System Sets up Environmentally Friendly Production Facility

Walled Lake, MI --- April 21, 2009 -- Matrix System Automotive Finishes said this week it is proud to be one of the first automotive paint manufacturers in the U.S. to equip its facilities and develop water-based paint in its own backyard -- Michigan.

This is a huge step for Matrix System, which recently introduced its waterborne line, Aqualution, to the California market in April 2008. Over the last year, the requests for making the switch to a water-based paint system have been immense. Due to the various inquiries, Matrix System made the decision to build an additional 3,200-square-foot Aqualution production facility, located in Commerce Twp., Mich., which also includes new spray and testing equipment to segregate the water technology from the traditional solvent paint system.

This newly remodeled production facility will include 25 new stainless steel small batch processing vessels and equipment to produce more than 60,000 gallons of product a year as part of the initial process. The area can be expanded to double its capacity as sales increase on the Aqualution line.

The manufacturing plant has also installed a de-ionized water system with UV lighting to process Great Lakes water for use in this green product. Additionally, state-of-the-art processing pumps and filtration will be used to assure the quality of the product.

Aqualution was formulated and introduced to the California market to fundamentally reduce volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Since the release, word has really spread and may now soon be a national industry standard. The national release of Aqualution is planned for the spring, and first production scale batches were started in this facility beginning in March.

"Matrix System is extremely excited and honored to be one of only a few manufacturers to produce an environmentally friendly water-based toner system for the automotive aftermarket here in the United States," said John Czarnik, operations plant manager. "We strongly feel that this will give Matrix System a huge advantage in offering our customers a technologically advanced product that is eco-safe."
